Mike O’Brien is the General Manager of the Defense Division at Voyager Technologies, responsible for all aspects of the division’s work focused on national security, defense, and Intelligence. Mike has over 30 years of experience supporting the defense and intelligence communities, supporting their needs from his roles in both small businesses and large defense contractors. Mike started his career working as an electrical engineer at a small intelligence business in Silicon Valley, where he helped develop novel hardware and software technologies to intercept and prosecute a variety of emerging threat signals. From there he migrated into working directly with customers to understand their mission needs and apply that knowledge to systems engineering, program management, business development and company management.

Mike, as a President, CEO, and major shareholder, has effectively operated and lead the ownership transition of two highly successful defense businesses, Advanced Counter Measure Systems and Valley Tech Systems. The prior was acquired by Sierra Nevada Corporation and the latter by Voyager Space. Both organizations flourished throughout their transitions and continue as prosperous organizations to this day. Mike also spent a decade leading a large business area at Northrop Grumman, one of the country’s largest defense contractors. His experience at both small and large businesses has provided Mike with the knowledge and experience to understand how to efficiently operate smaller businesses and scale those businesses by orders of magnitude as programs and revenue streams demand.

Mike’s entire professional career has been dedicated to supporting the defense industrial base. He is passionate for, and greatly appreciates, the military and intelligence capabilities of our great country.
