John Baum
John Baum is chief marketing officer of Voyager Technologies. In this role, he is responsible for leading marketing, brand management, communications strategy and strategic growth, leading initiatives and campaigns that drive engagement and scale business.
Mr. Baum brings extensive experience across military operations, commercial innovation and government engagement. He has built disruptive defense businesses, led high-performance aviation teams and operated in complex Aerospace and Defense environments. His background combines operational precision with strategic insight and the ability to communicate mission value to diverse stakeholders.
Previously, Mr. Baum was executive vice president, Strategy & Advanced Concepts at Voyager, where he led new initiatives and partnerships to expand into priority aerospace and national security markets. Prior to Voyager, Mr. Baum served in the commercial human spaceflight sector, supporting astronaut training, flight-test readiness and operational safety. He helped drive partnerships focused on advanced training initiatives for the Department of War and U.S. Space Force, and led mission preparation with commercial astronaut crews. Additionally, Mr. Baum served as philanthropy director for Polaris Dawn, raising funds and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He also co-founded Draken International, a company that supported U.S. and allied military training requirements.
In the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Baum served in several premier roles, including F-16 combat deployments, Weapons School (Top Gun) Instructor and Thunderbirds demonstration pilot. He was selected as a Strategic Communications Fellow for the Secretary of the Air Force, serving as chief of the Media & Opinion Leader Branch. His assignments included HAF/A5 air dominance chief and munitions requirements officer.
Mr. Baum earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master’s degree in strategic communications from George Mason University.
