Voyager Celebrates Grand Opening of George Washington Carver Science Park Facility at The Ohio State University
Nanoracks, the Science Park’s first tenant, is set to build the Starlab Terrestrial Analog Facility. A replica of the Starlab space station science park, the Starlab Terrestrial Analog Facility, will allow all Starlab users access to research, mission testing, and conducting parallel experiments on the ground.
Beyond Starlab, the GWCSP will also host other research projects that will directly benefit the Ohio agriculture community. Some of these benefits include research to preserve Ohio’s water quality, improve crop genetics and production efficiency, and enhance the biodiversity of the state.

The Voyager team received a warm welcome from local business leaders and representatives from the City of Columbus, State of Ohio, and The Ohio State University, including Dr. Cathann Kress, Vice President for Agricultural Administration and Dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Dr. Hiroyuki Fujita, Chair of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees; Peter Mohler, Executive Vice President for Research, Innovation and Knowledge at Ohio State, Kenny McDonald, President and CEO of Columbus Partnership; and Dr. Frederic Bertley, President and CEO, The Center of Science and Industry; Dr. John Horack, Professor and Neil Armstrong Chair in Aerospace Policy; Jeffrey Manber, Voyager President of International and Space Stations and Robbie Harris, Director of Advanced Concepts at Nanoracks spoke to attendees about plans for Starlab in space and on Earth.

This grand opening is the culmination of months of collaborative work across several disciplines, teams, and state lines. We are so proud of what’s already been accomplished and for the overwhelming support from our partners across the state of Ohio. We know we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible together.
